Bethlehem Baptist Church - Columbia, SC

Frequently we think of the work of the church occurring only on Sunday morning. However, the work goes on continually because the needs of the people demand it. For this reason, our ministries are diverse and focused.

The underlying purpose of each ministry here at Bethlehem Baptist Church is discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, ministry and worship. By focusing on these purposes we can be relatively certain that everything we do moves us in the direction in which God intends for us to move.

We invite you to browse this section and learn of all the good work presently taking place in God's vineyard. If you have any questions or comments about them feel free to contact us.

Description of Ministries

The members of the Pulpit Aid Club believe that we increase our service to God by assisting the ministry at Bethlehem Baptist. Our purpose is to enhance the effectiveness of the ministry through spiritual, physical, and social outreach.

The purpose of the Senior Missionary Ministry is to assist others in reaching and saving the lost outside of our church while offering opportunities for our members to be involved in mission opportunities that can be an encouragement to them in their journey to become closer to God. So that the entire church may help seek and save the lost and help them finish the race, outreach is coordinated through four mission groups that fall under the auspices of the Missionary Ministry.

Reaching the lost by taking the gospel to the homeless and destitute with feeding and clothing give-away. Our purpose is to train younger women in mission outreach.

The purpose of the Youth Missionary Ministry is to provide spiritual knowledge of the Bible, church beliefs and help youths develop a personal relationship with God. We also train youths in mission outreach.

We provide service to other auxiliaries if we can, help the youth of the church and also the widows of the church when called upon for transportation to and from the store, doctors' office and pharmacy.

Provide emergency first aid, to impart general advice on health related problem, and to assist members in understanding the relationship between spiritual and physical well-being. This ministry also provides health education programs.

The purpose of this ministry is to provide childcare for parents with small children during Sunday morning worship services in a Christian and educational environment. The nursery is available for ages 1-5 on first and third Sundays and ages 1-3 on second and fourth Sundays.

Our mission is to set examples of good leadership, help a boy become a better man, and a productive and useful citizen in our society.

The staff as representatives for Christian Education commits ourselves to: Enjoy other and desire for them to know God's love and concern for their lives. Help everyone, from pre-school to adult, grow in grace and know the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The purpose is to provide guidance and leadership to our future leaders by inspiring and challenging them to strive for honor and excellence in their education and career endeavors.

We purchase fruits, vegetables, and meats in wholesale quantities and divide the cost and purchases among the members. The left over items are given to the sick and shut-in members of the church and/or community. We encourage interested persons to come and join us.

Psalm 100; Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Our mission is to uplift the Name of Jesus through song and to reach lost souls. We want to keep the Jubilee note alive. We sing on the first and the fourth Sunday of each month and we welcome anyone interested in joining.

Our mission is to uplift the name of Jesus through songs coming from young voices and vessels that the Lord has made. We hope to reach some lost soul for Christ.

We the members of the Male Chorus believe that we extend our personal worship by encouraging worship through song and praise. Our purpose is to magnify the musical ministry to Bethlehem Baptist Church or any worship service we may be involved in.

As 'doorkeepers in the house of the Lord' our mission is to greet the congregation and visiting friends with a warm greeting and a cheerful smile. We provide seating for each worshiper as they enter into the sanctuary, handout church programs, render songs of praises during the offering, and provide other assistance to ensure the comfort of the entire congregation.

The Senior Usher board welcomes, serve, and strive to make all visitor, members and friends feel welcome when they enter our church doors and grounds. But our purpose is to give God all the honor and praise for allowing us to be doorkeepers in His House.

Their excitement and enthusiasm are displayed in their ministering of songs. It is always a JOY to be in their presence. If you want to be part of a loving, caring, ministering group, if you want to feel the gladness of singing the Lord's praise, then there is a seat waiting here for you.

This committee was organized to assist our new members in becoming familiar with the different auxiliaries, encouraging them to participate in the new members class, and getting them acquainted with their assigned deacon. It is the committees desire for our new members to feel a part of the Bethlehem Church Family and the start of a loving, Christian relationship.

This ministry is to assist members and/or visitors who are need of transportation to and from the morning worship service. If you or someone you know need a ride to service, please contact the church office during the week or the coordinator.
